Chieko Anderson, 91, of Eau Claire, WI passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire, WI. She was born May 1927 in Asahigawa, Japan, daughter of Magroichiro and Yuki Mizuno.
In 1953, she married James H. Anderson. Together they had four children. They lived in Brewer, ME for four years and then resided in Osseo, WI where she worked in the Osseo Bakery and as a school cook at Osseo-Fairchild High School. Chieko was baptized by Pastor Johnsrud at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church. Chieko was an avid sports fan. She especially enjoyed watching her sons play football. She was a big Green Bay Packers fan!
Chieko loved traditional Japanese dance. For many years she danced with the Sakuraki Japanese Dance Group. She very much cherished the friendships she made over the years within the Japanese community.
Chieko is preceded in death by her husband, James; two brothers, Mitzuyoshi and Toshiaki; sisters, Toshiko and Mihoko; and an infant sister.
She is survived by her children, Susan of Eau Claire, WI, Richard “Hodge” of Los Angeles, CA, John (Mary) of Stanley, WI, Cindy of Eau Claire, WI; three grandsons, Joshua (Ashley), Shawn (Miki), and Trevor; granddaughter, Chelsea; three great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Lucas, Gwyneth, special sisters-in-law, Eilene Muenkel, Joanne Hawver, and Yuko Mizuno; brother-in-law, Rev. Charles (Joyce) Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank nurse Jacob and the staff at Marshfield Medical Center for their care.
Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 12, 2018 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Terry Lorenz officiating. Burial will follow at Osseo Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Monday.
