Corrine Ottestad

Corrine Eleanor Ottestad, 96, of Osseo, died Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.
Corrine was born November 13, 1920, in the Town of Hale, Trempealeau County, WI to Carl and Mollie (Iverson) Maug.  As a young girl, she and others in the family were “farmed” out to help others and later she worked as a housekeeper in Eau Claire.
Corrine married Ray Ottestad on October 26, 1944, in Strum.  Together they farmed in rural Pigeon Falls, Pleasantville, and beginning in 1950, in the Town of Unity, rural Strum. She worked seasonally at Huntsinger Farms in Mondovi.  When Ray and Corrine retired, in 2003, they moved to Hixton.  Following Ray’s death, on January 14, 2006, she remained in Hixton until moving to assisted living in Osseo and most recently being a resident at Dove Healthcare Osseo.
Corrine was always about family. She loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens, baking for her family and watching the birds in her yard. She was a long-time member of the Women’s Group at Immanuel Lutheran Church which included attending circle meetings and serving at funerals.
Corrine is survived by her daughter Christine (Paul) Rentmeester of La Crosse; sons, Gary (Debra) Ottestad of Strum and Randy (Wendy) Ottestad of Osseo; one sister, Ruth (Omar) Engen of Strum; two brothers, Clarence Maug of Strum and Chester (Nila) Maug of Osseo; ten grandsons, two granddaughters, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Corrine was preceded in death by her daughter Isedora Nyen, husband Ray, sisters Harriett Anderson and Lillian Myhre and a brother John Maug.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum with Rev. Paul Tobiason officiating.  Burial will be in Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Hale, Trempealeau County.
Friends may call from 4-7 pm Wednesday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo.  Friends may also call from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Thursday at the church.
