Georgianne Tastad

Georgianne Sharon Tastad died in her home in Eau Claire, WI on August 3, 2017.
She was born in Chicago on May 10, 1942 to Sarran and Margery Staeben. Georgianne taught school for many years. Parents of students wanted their children in her class because they made so much progress with her method of teaching.
Georgianne and her husband purchased a campground and motel and built a store five miles north of Augusta, called Woodland Store. They operated the store, motel and campground for 18 years, selling it in 2006. Georgianne surrounded people she met with love, like the air they breathed. Even when suffering from Lung Cancer she maintained a positive attitude, always thinking of what she could do to enhance the quality of life for others.
Georgianne married Don Tastad, July 2, 1972. They lived in a Chicago suburb until 1982 at which time they moved to Eau Claire, WI. They lived on Lake Wissota and later on Lake Eau Claire, where they enjoyed many hours entertaining children and grandchildren. Georgianne enjoyed traveling and camping all over the United States after retirement. During the last ten years in the winter months, Georgianne and her husband lived in an over age 55 Community called, Windward Knoll in Thonotosassa, near Tampa Florida. She was involved in many of the community activities but her favorite was playing outdoor shuffleboard. She was an excellent player and her women’s team won first place in tournaments the last two years. When the residents of the Windward Knoll community discovered Georgianne had lung cancer they surrounded her with love and support. They sent her cards in the mail, greetings on the Internet, many telephone calls and visits. She was loved by all for her sense of humor, service, and concern for others.
Georgianne is survived by her husband, Don Tastad; children, Richard Tastad, Gregory (Joan) Tastad, Darcy Tastad, Mary (Ralph) Klink; eight grandchildren, Nancy Maxwell Jackson, Richard Tastad, Kelsie Tastad, Justin Tastad, Bryana Tastad, Garett Mortensen, Kara Mortensen and Erik Klink; four great grandchildren, Kennedy LaCroix, Olivia Garcia, Harper Maxwell Jackson and Hendrix Maxwell Jackson; a brother, Butch (Mary) Staeben.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarran (Margery) Staeben, her brothers, James Staeben and Stephen Staeben.
