Gladys Vold

Gladys Marie Vold, 87, of Osseo, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Dove Health and Rehabilitation in Osseo, in the care of Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice and her loving family.
Gladys was born December 30, 1929 in the Town of Ettrick, Trempealeau County, WI, to Oscar and Lila (Alseth) Norgaard. She attended Hardies Creek Elementary School in the Town of Gale, Trempealeau County and her freshman year at Galesville High School. She completed her education in Osseo, graduating from Lincoln Hill High School in 1949.
Gladys married John Vold on October 22, 1949 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osseo. Together they farmed and raised their five boys. Gladys and John were very active in the NW Wisconsin Pony Pulling Association and the Wisconsin Horse Pullers Association. Gladys served as secretary and treasurer of the Pony Pullers for several years. In 1993 Gladys and John were given the honor of being the Grand Marshalls of Lake Martha Days in Osseo. Gladys also helped with all the events at Vold’s Inc. including the Annual Pancake Days.
Some of Gladys’ proudest moments were raising her sons and following her grandchildren in their school and extracurricular activities, whether it was sports or dancing or music. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, trips to the casino, needlepoint, embroidery, baking Norwegian treats and her dogs. She was an active member of Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.
Gladys is survived by her sons, John “Jack” Vold of Osseo, Paul (Arlene) Vold of Osseo, Wayne (Mary Lou) Vold of Osseo, Bradley (Renee Preston) Vold of Strum and Leslie (Lisa) Vold of Osseo; five grandchildren, Derrick (Hillary) Vold, Alex Vold, Anna (Luke) Boortz, Addie Vold and Shania Vold, three great grandchildren, Logan, Bennett John and Paisley Gladys; three sisters, Loretta Anderson of Osseo, Shirley (Ron) Anderson of Beloit and Judy Olson of Osseo; brother-in-law, Lester Vold of Osseo.
In addition to her husband John, who died on December 24, 2008, Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lila, and an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Terry Lorenz officiating. Burial will follow in Osseo Cemetery. Gladys’ pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Wisconsin Horse and Pony Pullers members.
Friends and family may call from 4-7 PM, Friday and from 10-11 AM, Saturday at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Oakridge and Dove Heathcare of Osseo for the loving care you showed Gladys and us during this difficult time.
