Jeanette Fischer

Jeanette “Jan” Fischer, 88, Of Osseo, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2017 at Strum Area Health and Rehabilitation in Strum.
Jeanette Marie Romundstad was born August 11, 1928 in Eau Claire to Oscar and Ragna (Rindal) Romundstad. She grew up in the Town of Clear Creek, Eau Claire County and attended grade school at Norseville School. She graduated from Lincoln Hill High School in Osseo with the class of 1946. After graduating from high school Jeanette worked at the Farmer’s Store in Eau Claire and for ATT as a teletype operator.
Jeanette married Donald Fischer on October 5, 1952 in Stillwater, MN. She and Donald farmed in the North Branch area of the Town of Hale, Trempealeau County. She enjoyed her life on the farm but also worked as an operator for the Pleasantville Telephone Exchange and National Presto Industries. She also worked at Brooks Clothing in the London Square Mall and at Bye’s Dress Shop in Osseo. Following Donald’s death on October 1, 1991 she moved to Osseo where she lived until 2009 when she moved to Crystal Lake Manor in Strum.
She was an active member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church and its women’s groups and the North Branch Homemaker’s for many years. She was a life member of Sons of Norway, Trygvasson Lodge #220 of Osseo.
Jeanette will be remembered for her innovative cooking, good humor, distracted card playing, and in her last years her jigsaw puzzling.
Jeanette enjoyed her life and the lives of those she knew, very much.
Jeanette is survived by her son David and his wife Beverly Julson, sister, Arline Miller of Crookston, MN and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Oscar and Ragna, and husband Donald, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Myhers, brother Hardin Romundstad and her twin sister Virginia Wold.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Elk Creek Lutheran Church in the Town of Hale. Rev. Paul Tobiason officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Friends were invited to call from 11:00 am until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
Jeanette would like to say to those she knew, and especially the staff of Crystal Lake Manor and Strum Area Health and Rehabilitation, “Takk For Alt.”
