Marie Lienhardt

Marie Janet Lienhardt, 92, of Augusta, WI, passed away February 14, 2017, at Augusta Health and Rehabilitation Center with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. She was born in Forest Park, IL, on December 15, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Brach) Leber.
Marie attended St. Bernadine’s Catholic Grade School and Provisio High School in Maywood, IL, until around the age of 16.
She married Gustav Lienhardt on December 26, 1943, in Forest Park, IL. They lived in Illinois until 1958 when they moved near New Auburn, WI. There, Marie and Gus owned and operated Pine Acres Resort and Bait Shop on Lower Long Lake until 1982. Marie worked at a garment factory in Bruce, WI, for a few years in the 60’s until around 1966 when she was hired at the Northern Center near Chippewa Falls where she retired in 1986. Following retirement, they moved to Brainerd, MN, in 1997 where they enjoyed many hours with friends and family fishing, playing cards, and quilting. They moved to Augusta, WI, in 2004 to be closer to their sons.
Marie is survived by her son, Richard (Jennifer) Lienhardt of Augusta, WI; five grandchildren, Ashley (Paal) Lunde of Oslo, Norway, Jonathan Lienhardt of Eau Claire, Annie Lienhardt of Eau Claire, Lindsey Lienhardt of Orlando, FL, and Anissa Thompson of Duluth, MN; two great-grandsons, Jack Wolowicz of Eau Claire, and Espen Lunde of Oslo, Norway; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 63 years, Gustav Lienhardt; two sons, Donald and Thomas Lienhardt; two sisters, Esther Leber and Marge Panzer; sister-in-law, Louise Hagenauer; brother-in-law, Irwin Panzer.
Marie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing cards, quilting, fishing, knitting, gardening, and canning. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be sadly missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, with Pastor David Irgens officiating. A visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Island Lake Cemetery, Island Lake, WI.
