Richard Otto

Richard James Otto, 89, of Osseo, died Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.
Richard was born June 1, 1928 in rural Foster to Edgar and Laura (Scoenke) Otto.
After high school Richard moved to Waukesha where he worked at Waukesha Motor Works. While in Waukesha he met Dorthey Sampson and they were married on August 6, 1949 in Dubuque, IA. They made their home in Waukesha and Genesee in southern Wisconsin until 1956 when they purchased a farm in Levis. In 1975 they bought The Levis Store and operated it until 1980. For several years he was a dealer for Dairyland Seed Co. Dorthey preceded him in death on June 8, 2017.
Richard loved the outdoors; working in the fields, hunting and trapping, gardening and cutting fire wood.
Richard is survived by his daughters Shari (Brad) Indrebo of Osseo and Sandra “Tiny” Otto of Osseo; sons Michael Otto of Merrillan and Jason (Vern Vandeberg) Otto of Osseo; foster daughter Audra Bruder of Augusta; one sister, Mildred Carter of Osseo; two grandchildren, Kevin Indrebo of Milwaukee and Jenni (Phillip) Johnson of Hayward.
In addition to his wife Dorthey he was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Laura, three brothers, Clarence, Virgil and Franklin Otto and two sisters, Gladys Scheurman and Doris Erickson.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 at South Beef River Lutheran Church in rural Osseo. Rev. Sandra Hutchens will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo. Friends may also call from 12–1:00 p.m. at the church on Monday.
