Roger Swett

In Eau Claire, WI during the afternoon hours of October 26, 2017, Roger Swett, a hard-working, entrepreneur and accomplished businessman quietly slipped away from us…from complications of Dementia. To the end, he would entertain an entire room with his singing. Oh how he loved music!
He is survived by his family: sons; Scott (Terri) Swett, and Randy Swett; daughters, Renea (Randy Reigstad) Johns and Roxane (Steve) Peterson; grandchildren: Alan (Kelly) Swett, Christopher (Nicole) Swett, Lauren Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Michael Johnson, Nicholas (Jennifer) Peterson and Joshua Peterson; ten great grandchildren.
Roger was born on June 24, 1938 in Sparta, WI. Roger grew up in the Barre Mills, Beloit and Sturgeon Bay areas. As a young boy he was surrounded by very special people in his life. Uncle Juke and aunt Minetta cousin Jerry Poehling, his brother Ken Swett, mother Anne and her husband Bill Fitzgerald, and his father Levi and wife Irene Swett.
Roger moved his family to Osseo in 1966. He bought a grocery store that became known as Osseo Super Value. He later sold the store to his son Scott and his wife Terri Swett.
Roger owned and operated the Alan House Motel which he built in 1973. He sold the business in 2000 and retired that same year.
He had so many adventures and experiences in the Osseo area. He loved the community! Roger was involved in Osseo Lions Club, many local churches, Osseo Commercial Club, Osseo Downtown Businessman’s Association, Osseo Rod and Gun Club, Country Cruisers Car Club. He marched with the Zor Shriners Marching Band for 34 years and was a big supporter of the Osseo-Fairchild schools and the local churches. Because of his love of music, he was always involved in various bands and play performances in the area. He loved life, worked even harder, and definitely lived it. Dad, thank you for making such a difference in the town of Osseo and especially your family.
A special thank you to all the wonderful, caring and compassionate staff at Milestone Senior Living and Heartland Hospice Care. You helped us understand this difficult journey – it would have been so much harder without you. A special thank you to his dear friends Barbara Sutter and Bob Moore for always being there, even to the end.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Terry Lorenz officiating. Burial will follow in Osseo Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo is assisting the family.
