William “Bill” Paulson, Jr.

William “Bill” Paulson, Jr., 83, of Osseo, WI, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016, at Syverson Health Care Center, Eau Claire, WI. He was born June 3, 1933, at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, WI, to William and Edna (Hume) Paulson.
Bill spent his first eight years in Osseo, before joining his parents when they moved to a farm south of Osseo. It was a small dairy farm and he began to work on it as soon as he was old enough, being that his father spent long days with the county highway department.
Bill attended school through his first eight grades at the one room King’s Valley School. He went on to attend Lincoln Hill High School in Osseo.
Bill was a farmer to the core. He excelled in vocational agriculture classes. He was in the 1st group of students who tested milk for various qualities. Under Vocational Agriculture teacher, Art Herum, Bill became a leader in Future Farmers of America. Bill was the first student in Osseo to receive a Wisconsin State Future Farmer award. Later, during his senior year, Bill was nominated for and received the prestigious American Farmer award. He traveled to Kansas City to receive the honor.
Bill was also there at the beginning of the Osseo School Forest and was honored with planting one of the first symbolic trees.
After high school, he attended an agricultural short course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Bill returned to the farm on which he had grown up and spent the rest of his days there.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Maug in Osseo and they were later divorced.
Bill also enjoyed hunting and trapping.
He is survived by his two brothers, Ronald (Marian) Paulson of Helena, Montana and Jeffrey (Gloria) Paulson of Osseo; two nieces; two nephews; seven grand-nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial followed in Osseo Cemetery.
Family and friends were invited for visitation Thursday, before the start of the service.
Memorials may be given to the Lutheran World Relief Organization.
Schiefelbein Funeral Home of Osseo assisted the family with arrangements.
