Winter weather causes collision on Hwy. 93
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene of a crash with injuries on Hwy. 93, south of Aspen Road.
The driver of a southbound Honda Civic lost control on the icy roadway and crossed into the northbound traffic lane. The driver of a northbound semi attempted to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful. The vehicles collided causing the semi to enter the ditch on the east side of Hwy. 93 and overturn. The semi was hauling a load of corn which spilled onto the roadway, covering Hwy. 93 with a two-inch layer of corn.
The driver of the semi was pinned in his cab and was extricated by Township Fire. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Hwy. 93 was closed for several hours while crews worked to pull the semi from the ditch and remove the corn from the roadway.
