Fall Creek High school girls' athletes in action this weekend
Fall Creek High School girls' athletes will be involved in WIAA meets and tournaments this weekend.
On Saturday afternoon, FCHS freshman Jenna Anders will compete in the WIAA State Cross Country Meet. She will run in the Division 3 Girls Race which begins at 1:20 p.m. Anders is making her first trip to the state meet in Wisconsin Rapids and held at The Ridges Golf Course. Anders finished second in the sectional meet last weekend in Boyceville and qualified as an individual, running a time of 19:41. Anders won the Cloverbelt Conference race a few weeks ago.
Later in the day, the FCHS Volleyball Team is competing in the Division 3 Menasha St. Mary's Sectional Tournament Championship Match at 7 p.m. The No. 3 ranked Crickets, 40-3 overall, will face No. 6 ranked Oconto. Fall Creek downed No. 5 ranked Stratford in the sectional semifinal at Fall Creek back on Thursday by a 3-1 score. The Crickets have been three ranked teams in the past three weeks and will look to make Oconto No. 4. This is the farthest the Crickets have been in volleyball since 1989 and FC looks to qualify for its first state tournament in the sport.
The Oconto Blue Devils are 33-4 overall and are led by middle hitters, senior Jenna Hornblad (5-8) and sophomore Hannah Moe (5-10) along with setters, senior Baleigh Gering and junior Naveah Brill and junior outside hitter Cora Behnke (6-0).
