Marshall Frank Horlacher
Marshall Frank Horlacher, age 92, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home. He was born on November 11, 1923 to Henry and Ella (Rosentrater) Horlacher. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Marshall is survived by his two sons, Bill (Linda) Horlacher of Eau Claire and Bob (Ruth) Horlacher of Augusta; two daughters, Barbara Root of Bushnell, FL and Jan Klonecki of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Ben (Carla) Klonecki, Jake (Amber) Klonecki, and Sarah Horlacher; four great-grandchildren, Tegan, Jayden, Peyton and Bentley Klonecki; brother, Herbert (Irene) Horlacher of Eau Claire; three sisters-in-law, Josephine Mattson, Gloria Johnson, and Jeanette Scheuermann; two brothers-in-law, Al (Germaine) Scheuermann and Dennis (Luanne) Scheuermann; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, in 2000; parents, Henry and Ella Horlacher; two sons-in-law, Ronald Root and Dennis Klonecki; two brothers, Gerhardt and Henry Horlacher; three sisters, Amelia Horlacher, Marie Hartwich, and Margaret Marich; two sisters-in-law, Lydia and Phyllis Horlacher; two brothers-in-law, Louis Hartwich and John Marich; and many other relatives.
Marshall was in the milk hauling business for 57 years. He retired in 2004. He started out in his family dairy business in Eau Claire. After that he purchased a “Milk Can” Route in 1947, then hauled bulk milk for Dolly Madison Dairies to be the first “Bulk Hauler” in the Eau Claire area in 1955.
He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Town of Washington Fire Department. He climbed the ladder to be promoted to the first Lieutenant. He stepped up to Deputy Chief, to Assistant Chief onward to First Assistant Chief, then Chief which he served for 20 years. He retired in December 1996 of 42 years of service.
The family would like to thank Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care Marshall received.
A celebration of Marshall’s life was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Home, 535 S Hillcrest Pkwy, Altoona. A private burial will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.cremationsociety-wi.com.
