Andrew “Oz” John Komisar

Andrew "Oz" John Komisar, age 81, of Pepin, WI passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 22, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. He was born on December 22, 1938 in the Town of Pepin to Henry and Stephanie Komisar. He attended grade school at the Hick’s Valley grade school and was a member of the Pepin High School Class of 1956.
At a young age he began working on the farm. He bought his first farm when he was only 17 years old and worked on putting his farms together from then on.  After High School he farmed and worked many other jobs to help pay the bills. He worked at the Pepin Feed Mill, worked construction, and he drove truck off and on until into his 60's.
He married Joyce Forsythe on February 15th,1969 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin.  After marriage they farmed together and raised their family together in Pepin. He enjoyed farming and growing the size of his farm through hard work and determination, often taking outside jobs and working long hours to accomplish his goal.
He enjoyed his own children and their friends, and all of the families on the neighboring farms. If anyone extra was around at mealtime, they were surely to be well fed. He enjoyed watching his family grow, play sports, and eventually move on and start families of their own. He was proud of all of them. His highlight was spending time with his grandchildren. He found pure joy in watching them grow, roam around the farm, participate in sports and activities, and he always checked in with them to make sure they were doing well in school. He liked showing his grandchildren things on the farm and teaching them new things to say and do, that only a grandpa with a sparkle in his eye and smirk on his face could get away with.
Oz started most mornings having a cup of coffee and "solving the world's problems" with the "OLD GUYS" at Auth's shop. He spent hours each day on a tractor or his 4-wheeler checking his cows, fixing his fences, and cruising around the valley to "talk smart" with his neighbors and friends. He will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Pepin, WI; daughter, Sonia, Madison, WI; sons, John, Joe (Sarah), Vic (Amanda) all of Pepin, WI; grandchildren, Alyssa, Cora, Jacob, Nashic, Sophia, Wrenly, and Ryker; many nieces and nephews; "Very good friends", young and old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Stephanie; brothers, George, Victor (Joyce Swanson), Infant twins; sisters, Pauline Komisar, Mary Kidd (Marshall), Kathryn Tulip (Otto), Margerat Komisar, Lola Komisar, Martha Riech (Harvey), Jeanette Osuyos (John) and Elda Reinhardt (Gerald).
A visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI. Social distancing and face masks are required. A private family graveside service is being held at Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin. To express on-line condolences, visit obituaries at www.goodrichfh.com
A Celebration of Life in honor of Oz will be planned for a future date.
