Barbara Joyce Smith

Barbara Joyce Smith (72) of Arkansaw, WI passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire, WI. She was born August 29, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN; daughter of Walter & Jeannette (Smith) Fern.
She graduated from North High School in Minneapolis, MN. Later she attended the University of River Falls. On December 23, 1973 she married Keith Smith in Sioux Falls, SD. They lived in Virginia and Kansas before moving to Arkansaw in 1977.
Bobby enjoyed watching humming birds, photography and crocheting. She was an extreme cat lover. She was perennially cheerful.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Smith of Arkansaw, WI; daughter, Heather (Randy) Gruber of Mondovi, WI; sons, Thomas (Sue) Smith of Mayer, MN, Anthony Smith of Lake Elsinore, CA; grandchildren, Patrick, Keith, Mindy, Sara, Hailey, Tyler, Jakey, Sydnee, Jacob and Damian; great-grandson, Mason; siblings, Douglas (Sue) Fern, Jacqueline Jewell, Virginia (Ted) Miner, Michael (Judy) Fern, Diane (Joe) Kowalewski and Donald Fern; nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Debbie Fern.
Funeral services will be will be held 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand, WI with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating. Burial will be in Porcupine Cemetery in Frankfort Township, Pepin County, WI. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
