Barbara L. Luther

Barbara “Barb” L. Luther, age 85, of Menomonie, WI surrounded by her loving children, passed away from complications following open heart surgery on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, WI.
She was born May 4, 1931 in Menomonie, WI to Charles and Lois (Nida) Graske. She was raised in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1948.
On Aug. 3, 1948 Barbara married Herman “Dutch” Luther at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. To this union six children were born.
Barb was a homemaker until she went to work as a CNA at Dunn County Health Care Center for 27 years. She and a friend helped organize the annual D.C.H.C.C. Retiree Picnic. She was also an active member of VFW Auxiliary Post 1039.
Barb loved helping out at her church, she enjoyed the Wednesday meal at the Senior Center and delivering Meals on Wheels. She did her daily crossword puzzle in Pen and enjoyed doing embroidery. Barb and Dutch loved their time at the cabin, both in Woodlake and Mikana. They always made sure all the grandchildren had their turn staying with them. Barb’s family was the most important thing for her, keeping everyone together and staying in touch with everyone.
Barb is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Gary) Brandt, Debra (Mike) Casper; three sons, Dean (Lisa) Luther, Jeffrey (Amy) Luther, Daniel (Tammy) Luther; ten grandchildren, Kristi (Chad) Hanes, Robert (Ronda) Brandt, Jennifer (Jim) Asher, Brad (Kathy) Casper, Dustin (fiancé Summer) Luther, Jake Luther, Derek Luther, Brandon (Amy) Luther, Brittany (Sean) Reidell, James “J.D.” (girlfriend Breannaa) Luther; fourteen great-grandchildren, Breana, Wyatt, Presley, Brandt, Ty, Bella, Tana, Trace, Ryker, Colton, Chaz, Dominic, Madilyn, Ayden; two great-great-grandchildren, Paisley and Zoey; a sister Rose (Don) Reemtz; sisters-in-law, LouAnn Graske and Marian Graske; and many other relatives and friends;
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dutch; an infant son Larry; and brothers, Charles Graske and John Graske.
A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie. There was a visitation at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co. WI. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is serving the family.
