Barbara Marie (Kothbauer) Halling

Barbara passed away March 4, 2025 at the Plum City Care Center. Barb was born November 29, 2913 at home to Leo and Esther (Larson) Kothbauer. She was the third of five children. After she graduated from Nelson High School, she married Hubert Halling in April of 1956. They lived in Texas for two years while Hubert was in the service. Upon returning home, they made their home south of Durand where they remained.
Barb was a homemaker and also worked at various jobs over the years. She loved gardening, playing cards, fishing and going to the casino with Hubert. She loved her children and grandchildren and great grandson.
After Hubert passed away in 2019, Barb went into the Seasons Assisted Living in Plum City, and then into the Care Center when her dementia got worse.
She is survived by her daughter, Marion (Dave) Anderson of Ella, and son Michael L. (and friend Meg) Halling of Durand, her grandchildren Renee (Jon) Guenther of Marshfield, Michael A. Halling of Elmwood, Brady Halling of Chippewa Falls, and Gavin Halling of Durand. One great grandson, Lucas Guenther of Marshfield. Also survived by her sister, Gileen (Russel) Crandall of Mondovi, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, also special friend Carol Campbell at the Seasons.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Harold Kothbauer, Gerald Kothbauer, and James Kothbauer.
The caption under her high school yearbook picture read “She may be small, but so is a stick of dynamite!” This followed her the rest of her life!
The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is handing the cremations.
Family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
