Daniel Thomas Buchholtz

Daniel Thomas Buchholtz, 71, of Durand, WI went to heaven on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN for health reasons. He gave it his best but then Jesus called him home. He was born July 23, 1953 in Wabasha, MN; son of Robert and Myrna (Larson) Buchholtz. Danny Tom had many names that the people of Durand knew him by: Tommer, DT, Buchholtz, Dad, Old Man, and Papa Tom. He grew up in Durand and attended Durand High School.
He worked construction all of his life until retirement. Known as the guy with a big beard who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Danny Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. He was known to be grilling up chicken for his friends and family to enjoy together. Danny Tom was always up for having a good time and celebrating life with a cold beer. He also liked to go to parades and horse pulls. He was a fan of chocolate chip cookies, chocolate brownies, chocolate pie, chocolate chip ice cream, and he would let you know it.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracie (Andy) Esterby of Bay City, WI; his son, Travis Buchholtz of Arkansaw, WI; granddaughters, Katlyn, Megan, Madyson and Andrea Esterby; brother, Dennis Buchholtz of Naples, FL; sister-in-law Donna Buchholtz of Rice Lake, nephew Jim (Heather) Buchholtz of Colorado, and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrna; and brother, David.
A private family burial will take place on Thursday at Lyster Cemetery in Urne.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025.  from 1-5, join us for a chicken dinner at the Bodhi’s Event Center (formerly Masonic Lodge) in Durand and a drink and fellowship at Bohdi’s Bar.
