Born Sept 18, 1935 in Plum City, WI to George and Gertrude Bechel. Welcomed by 4 older brothers Joseph, Frank, Harold and Donald. All members of the family were musically inclined and became known as the Ducthmasters Family Band. Making music for nearly all wedding dances in the surrounding area for 19 years.
Donna graduated from Plum City High School in 1953. She went to work at the Plum City hospital as a nurses aid until she married Byron Wittenberg on April 19, 1955. They moved to St Paul where she continued nurses aide work at Mounds Park Hospital.
In 1964 they moved to Cottage Grove , MN, and resided there until health reasons required a move to warmer country. They moved to AZ in 1977 where they owned and operated a Motel and Retaurant. They sold the business, when Byron went to work for the Cirkle K Corp and moved to Henderson, Nevada in 1980. Donna went to work for a local casino and resturant until she retired in April 1999.
They both enjoyed woodworking and making most of their Christmas gifts. Donna became involved with Holy Family Catholic Church volunteering in the office, as a CCD assistant, and in 2005 she joined the Rosary Makers. She and Byron were both involved for many years in making Rosaries to be sent to foreign countries.
Donna’s health really failed after having a bypass surgery in 2009. She was hosptialized for 4 months with many complications. She never fully recovered from that surgery. Donna loved to work with crafts, play the organ/piano, sing and dance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and her son Mark. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Byron, son Dean (Yvonne), Daughters Kim (Jim), Kay (Butch) and Jill (Robert), 5 Granddaughters and 4 Great Grand Children.
