Donna (Black) Meyer

Donna (Black) Meyer, 77, of Chanhassen, MN passed away at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital on August 1, 2019 from complications related to her emphysema.
Donna was born March 1, 1942 in Durand, WI to James and Gretchen (Rode) Black. She grew up in the Arkansaw, WI area and graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1960. After high school, Donna attended Buffalo County Teachers College in Alma, WI. She taught one year of elementary school before marrying Duane Meyer of Prairie Du Sac, WI Dec 7, 1963, and moving to Chicago, IL. They lived in Chicago for 20 yrs and raised their family. They then moved to Reno, NV where they lived for 23 years, before moving back to Durand in 2005. Donna and Duane moved to Chanhassen, MN in January to be closer to their two children, and grandchildren.
Donna loved spending time with her family. She was a gracious hostess to all that came to her home and served the most delicious meals. She had a passion for gardening, and enjoyed sewing, quilting and collecting old sewing machines. Donna was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one. Her sharp wit and kind, selfless nature will forever be admired, and greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Duane Meyer, son Richard (Michele) Meyer of Deephaven, MN, daughter Lissa Meyer Krantz of Minneapolis, MN, brother George (Fran) Black of Arkansaw, WI, sister Catherine (Ronald) Hendricksen of Owatonna, MN. Also, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jim, and her sister Marlene.

A private memorial celebration will be held in her son’s home for family and friends.
