Edith Alice Swinson

Edith Alice Swinson, age 77, of rural Mondovi, WI died Monday, January 11, 2021 at the home of her daughter. She was born December 14, 1943 in Buchanan County, Virginia to Noah and Nancy (Reynolds) Lester. She would join seven other sisters; Louise, Carol, Jenny, Pricey, Kathleen, Ruby and Delaruth and three brothers: Lonnie, Elmer and Reed.
Edith grew up and attended school in a small Appalachian school in Grundy, Virginia. On June 8, 1962 Edith Married Elmer Swinson of North Carolina. They enjoyed many years together camping, hunting, cooking and, of course fishing. She loved living a simple life, raising animals, growing southern vegetables in her garden as well as tending many beautiful flowers throughout the yard. When she wasn’t busy enjoying home life, she was busy working at Phillips Plastics of Eau Claire, WI. Soon after Edith was married, she was blessed with two beautiful daughters who became the pride and joy of her life. They would enjoy learning how to make biscuits and gravy the southern way, along with perogies and collard greens. They would enjoy pig roasts, large family reunions and precious memories of many who had gone on before. Edith’s battle with COPD began about ten years ago. She was very determined to fight this disease. She fought hard and long just like a Virginian would! Finally, the battle became too hard to win. She died very peacefully around her family early in the morning as if to get started on a new day in a new life.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Steven) Cole of Durand, WI; Annette (Lynn) Bauer of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren, Abigail Cole, Gabrielle Cole, Timothy Cole, Samuel Cole, Silas (Tori) Cole, Jonathon Cole, Caleb Cole; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Louise, Carol, Jenni, Pricey, and Delaruth; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Swinson; parents, siblings: Joseph, Elmer, Reed, Ruby, Stella and Kathleen. great-grandson: James Lee Barnes.
