Edna M. “Shep” La Pean

Edna M. “Shep” La Pean, age 71 of Hastings, died without suffering or warning at home on Wednesday evening, June 21, 2017.
Edna Mary was born August 6, 1945 in Durand, WI to James and Alice (Keefe) Riley. She was a graduate of Durand High School and worked for Hudson Sprayers for over 30 years prior to retirement. She married Bruce G. La Pean on June 12, 1965 and they raised their family in Hastings. Edna “Shep” loved reading and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce in 2014; and her sisters, Alice and Mary.
Edna “Shep” is survived by her daughter, Michele La Pean-Usher (Jeff); sons, Bruce James La Pean (Diane) and Timothy La Pean (Mark Schwister); also 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Weisman, Katherine Swanson; brothers, Patrick, James, Anthony, Terrance and Michael Riley.
The funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street in Hastings, officiated by Gordon Gathright. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to service. Interment will be held at a later date.
