Elaine Ruby (Wahlund) Larson

Elaine Ruby (Wahlund) Larson, 93, passed away on January 15, 2025, at the HeatherWood Assisted Living in Eau Claire, WI. She was born on the family farm in rural Stockholm to Esther Otelia (Larson) and Albin Johan Wahlund on March 6, 1931 the youngest of 14 children.
Elaine attended the Lund country school and worked at Durkey Atwood in Red Wing, MN until marrying the love of her life, Jerome (Jerry) Lowell Larson on September 9, 1953 at Sabylund Lutheran Church. They farmed together near Lund.
As a lifetime member of Sabylund Lutheran Church, she was active in the ladies group, altar committee, serving committees, assisting in auction fundraisers, cleaning the church and parsonage and as Coordinator of the Cradle Roll program for over 25 years.
Kim and Christy remember fondly their mother’s love for all animals, especially her pet dogs and cats. She instilled in them the importance of always being kind to everyone they met.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kim (Robert) Brunkow and Christy(Gregory) Berger, both of Durand, three grandchildren, Alecia (Jacob)Peterson, Blooming Prairie, MN, Erika (Nicholas) Brunner, Eleva, Bryce (Haley) Berger, Durand. step-granddaughter, Amy (Russell) Hunter, Black River Falls, one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Peterson and six great-grandsons, Mason and Peyton Peterson, Wyatt and Ethan Brunner, and Lyle and Owen Berger, two step great-grandchildren, Karsten and Zowie Hunter.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jerome, her mother and father, Esther and Albin Wahlund, four brothers, Emery, Wayne, John and Lester (Violet) Wahlund and nine sisters, Mildred (Paul) Hoffman, Beatrice (Harold) Larson, Marian (George) Winberg, Wilma (Paul) Larson, Marina (Gordon) Forsberg, Lillian (Alvin) Weberg, Mabel (Vernon) Bengston, Harriet (Leonard) Bergquist, Helen (Gordon) Bengtson and sister-in-law Joyce (Stanley) Diercks.

A private funeral service will be March 8, 2025 at Sabylund Lutheran church in rural Lund. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
