Erin Lynn Smith

Erin Lynn Smith, 14 of Melrose, WI passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Wabasha, MN following an ATV accident in Pepin. Erin was born February 26, 2004 in Red Wing, MN to Kari Breitung and Burton Smith. She just completed the 8th grade at Melrose Mindoro Middle School, where she was active playing the trumpet in band. She also enjoyed swimming, tubing, knee boarding, horses, downhill skiing and was also a member of the Coffee Mill Ski Team. In the garden, she picked black caps and tomatoes. Teasing her little brother was not uncommon along with completing puzzles with grandma.
She is survived by her mother Kari (Royd) Breitung; father Burton Smith; sister Ashley Newman; brother David Smith; niece Natalie Newman; maternal grandmother Ann Breitung; paternal grandparents David and Jane Smith; aunt Amy (Bob) Wehrs; uncles: Ben (Kristy) Smith and Brian (Danielle) Smith and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Alan Breitung.
Services to remember Erin were held at 6 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2018 at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha.
