Fern Walker

Fern Walker, age 93 of Nelson, WI passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home, Wabasha, MN. She was born on February 12, 1923 in Nelson, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Radatz) Marquardt. Fern married Robert Walker on December 24, 1943 in Alma in the minister’s home. She worked with her husband at Jack Sprat General Store in Nelson for 24 years. Fern was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Fern and Bob traveled on many bus trips across the county and attended many auctions. She loved to play “500” with her friends. Fern was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Fern will be sadly missed by her husband of 72 years, Robert of Wabasha; children, Nancy (Don) Castleberg of Texas, Dale (Carolyn) Walker of Durand and Laurie (Jim) Trundle of Neenha; grandchildren, Tina (Jon) Zera, Tony Castleberg, Chris (Deb) Walker, Eric (Jennie) Walker, Jordan (Lindsey) Trundle, Jake Trundle (Kirsten) and Kyler Trundle; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Christian Zera, Annie Castleberg, Chase and Grace Walker and Cash Trundle; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Florence Smith; brother, Floyd Marquardt, sister-in-law, Marie Weiss, Gracia Boehm and Ida Mae Elkington.
A funeral service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Nelson on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial to follow at Nelson Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service. Talbot Family Funeral Homes - Alma Chapel is assisting the family.
