Francis F. Fedie

Francis F. Fedie, 86, of Decatur, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at his home with his loving family at his side.
Francis was born March 3, 1933, in Durand, WI, the son of Henry and Annabel (Komro) Fedie. Francis married Peggy J. Wahlsmith on June 25, 1954 in Springfield, IL, and they had five children.
A U.S. Army veteran, Francis was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Decatur and Lovington American Legion Post #429. He retired from the B&O Railroad in 2001, where he worked as a brakeman.
Francis is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy; children, Donna (Dennis) Hockaday of Lincoln, IL, Gary Fedie of Maroa, IL, Victoria McMahon of Decatur, Scott (Angie) Fedie of Georgia, and Dennis (Connie) Fedie of Lovington, IL; 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; seven sisters, Verena Sapp, Springfield, MO, Doris Drier, Reedsburg, WI, Helen Feeney, Mondovi, WI, Rosemarie Richardson, Glenwood City, WI, LaVina (Gordy) Gifford, Rochester, MN, Donna (Roger) Heit, Menomonie, WI, Annette (Dan) Schwab, Hudson, WI; three brothers, Dan (Sue), Pepin, WI, Henry, Jr. (Brenda), Rockford, IL, and Robert (Audrey), Durand, WI. Francis is further survived by sisters- in-law, Arlene Fedie of Eau Claire, WI, and Gloria Fedie of Palm Coast, FL, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Michael McMahon, daughter-in-law, Kim Fedie; brothers Anton and Arnold; brothers-in-law, Ron Sapp, Ron Drier, Jim Feeney, Dean Richardson, and Don Heit.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home in Decatur. Funeral Liturgy was held 10 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the funeral home. Burial with military rites took place in Graceland Cemetery of Decatur. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services was in charge of the arrangements.
