Franz Peer Jevne

August 5, 1942 - February 6, 2025
Franz Peer Jevne passed away peacefully in Rancho Mirage, CA from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He was raised in Edina, MN, where he grew up playing hockey, baseball, tennis, and golf. He spent the summers up at Round Lake and at the Minikahda Club, where he worked on his tennis and golf game. He went on to Harvard, and then attended the University of Minnesota for law school.
After law school, he joined the Marine Corps and graduated from Naval Justice School in Newport, RI. He went to Vietnam where he served as a lawyer in JAG Corps. He completed his service in the Marines Corps as a Captain. When returning from Vietnam, he practiced law at Mackall, Crounse, & Moore in Minneapolis. Some of his most satisfying work as an attorney was for Planned Parenthood in Minnesota.
Later in life, he and his wife, Cindy, moved to Indian Wells, CA, where he bought a company. They loved California and would stay there for 32 years before moving back to his beloved Jevne Farm in Meridean, Wisconsin.
He and Cindy had immense love and respect for each other and had a great time together during their 41 years of marriage.
Franz loved to compete, and did so successfully, winning the Minikahda Club tennis and platform paddle championships multiple times. He also excelled in squash, golf, and skiing. For years he traveled around the country playing in platform paddle tournaments and was known to join the band at the Saturday night parties, usually belting out Johnny B Goode. He loved music and would often play his guitar and sing for friends and family. He wrote songs for every one of his six grandchildren and would often write a song for people on momentous occasions. He passed on his love of music, love of reading, and love of history to anyone who would listen.
He loved and was loved by many. Always an optimist, and always looking for fun. To say Franz was the life of the party is an understatement. A close friend of his wrote, in his prime there was nobody more full of life than Franz. Another friend wrote, he was a devoted friend and the most fun person he had ever met. He will be missed by friends and family.
Franz is survived by his wife, Cynthia Barker Jevne, daughter, Wendy Sidley (Mike), son, Franz Jevne (Kersten), stepson, Jason Hepp (Tina), stepdaughter, Heather Hepp, grandchildren, Jane Sidley (Oliver), Ally Sidley, Fin Jevne, Sophie Hepp, James Hepp, and Jon Hepp. There will be a small family gathering to celebrate Franz.
