George Russell Haugen

George Russell Haugen, 79, of Red Wing, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Red Wing. He was born October 22, 1938 to George Oscar and Elmira (Peterson) Haugen in Buffalo City, Wisc. He graduated from Pepin High School and joined the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge in 1959 he began working for Brunkow Sawmills in Nelson and Tiffany Sawmills in Pepin. He drove truck for Lake Pepin Fisheries in Pepin and Farmers Union in Durand. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing mechanical work. He was especially fond of his pick-up. He was a bit of a jokester and he loved to have fun spending time with his friends and family. He was always willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his sons, George Jr. (Terri) of Scottsdale, AZ, and Donald (Trisha) Haugen of Prescott, AZ; daughters, Robin (Russ) Strodtz of Burleson, TX and Jodiann (Kraig) Tuma of Coleman, WI; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister, Phyllis (Jay) Stuiber of Milwaukee; brothers, Richard (Renee Stewart) Haugen of Lac Du Flambeau, Wisc. and Rick Haugen of Frederick, Wisc.; special friend, Doris Fuller of Red Wing; and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruby Dove, Gloria Hogan, Elaine Shewbart, Marcella Snider, Joyce Brown and Peggy Haugen; brothers, Allen and Ronnie Haugen.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing with Reverend Adam Westrich officiating.
