Elk Point, SD. Ira Phillip Shoop, 87, of Elk Point passed away Friday, June 5, 2015, at Prairie Estates Healthcare Center in Elk Point.
Services were held on Wednesday, June 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point, with Revs. Joe Vogel and John Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elk Point, with military honors conducted by Elk Point V.F.W. and American Legion. Kober Funeral Home of Elk Point was entrusted with services.

Ira was born March 15, 1928, in Westfield, Iowa, the son of Ira Sr., and Carrie (Henry) Shoop.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and faithfully served his country for two years and received an honorable discharge in 1947.
He married Isabelle Louise Myers-Bradshaw on Jan. 2, 1965, At St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw, WI. They made their home in Elk Point, where they raised their four children. Their marriage was blessed by over 50 wonderful years together. Ira was employed by the Milwaukee Road Railroad for 42 years, holding various positions such as bridge crew foreman and general railroad facility maintenance. Upon retiring from the railroad, he was employed by Curry Seed Company, two different fertilizer companies and Sodrac Park. He will always be remembered for his amazing love for his wife. He also had an awesome yet subtle sense of humor. He had an exceptional love of all animals, especially the birds, rabbits and squirrels which he referred to as his livestock. He took pride in his vegetable garden, flowers, and cactus bed. Some of his favorite activities were spending time with family (especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren), being outdoors, and hunting and fishing in his younger years. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his grandchildren’s teams and Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Issy of Elk Point; his sons, Jack (Lorie) Bradshaw of Maurice, Iowa, and Jim (Mary) Bradshaw of Canton, S.D.; his daughters, Mary Lou (Troy) Claussen of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Marla Jo (Scott) Meadows of Elk Point; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Sr. and Carrie Shoop; and all eight of his siblings, Beatrice, Lawrence (Bud), Arlene, Blanche, Loretta, Jim, Earl and Viva.
