James “Jim” William Bauer

James “Jim” William Bauer, age 86 of Hudson, died peacefully surrounded by family on November 16, 2018 at Christian Community Homes.
Jim was born on April 18, 1932 in Lima Township of Durand, Wisconsin; the son of Anton L. and Mabel R. Bauer. He attended kindergarten through 12th grade at Lima Catholic School, graduating with the Class of 1950. From 1952 to 1954, Jim proudly served his country during the Korean War. In 1957, he earned his Associates Degree from the Minnesota School of Business. He worked as an accountant for the Fisher Nut Company for 35 years. On June 25, 1960, Jim was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judy Ulry at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. God blessed their marriage with three children, Kenneth, Lynn, and Mark.
Jim was an active member of St. Patrick Parish in Hudson. He volunteered his time working around the parish grounds and doing other church maintenance; painting and varnishing. He enjoyed many activities such as bowling, fishing, and gardening. Jim and Judy loved traveling the country especially to the scenic National Parks where they hiked together and appreciated the majestic beauty of God’s creation. He was an excellent handy man. Jim took great pleasure in tending his lawn and keeping the family home in good repair. In retirement he enjoyed helping family and friends with painting, yardwork and odd jobs. Most important to Jim, was his family. He adored his grandchildren and took great pleasure in playing games with them whenever he could. Looking after his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was what he loved doing best!
Jim will remain in the hearts of his wife of 58 years, Judy; children, Kenneth (Rosemary) Bauer, Lynn (Pete) Hawksford, and Mark (Lanida) Bauer; grandchildren, Anthony, William, Kevin (Renee), Katherine Bauer, Sarah (Cruise) Hamilton, Jason Hawksford, Rita, James, and Charlie Bauer; great-grandchildren, Kaiza and Knox Hamilton and one great-grandchild expected in December; brother, Dennis (Eileen) Bauer; siblings-in-law, David (Etta) Ulry and Lynne (Steve) Milward; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton L. and Mabel R. Bauer; siblings, Gerald V. Bauer, Donald L. (Rose) Bauer, Sister Marlene Bauer (FSPA); Brother-in-law, Dick Ulry; and parents-in-law, Glen and Gladys Ulry.
Mass of Christian Burial for Jim will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, WI. Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, WI; as well as one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in the St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Patrick Catholic School Endowment Fund or Christian Community Homes. Services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson, WI.
