James Ervin Weber

James Ervin Weber, age 87, of Portland, Oregon died on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St Anthony’s Village in Portland, Oregon.
Jim was born July 28, 1929 in Durand, Wisconsin to Ervin and Rose Weber. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1947. Jim was a mulit-sport athlete during high school running track, playing football and baseball. He went on to the University of Wisconsin in Madison where he played football and majored in Business. He was a member of the Phi Kappa fraternity and active in student government.
After graduation, he worked with his father and brother, Wayne, in the Heating and Air Conditioning business. His passion for sales led him to leadership roles in large multinational companies including Gould National Batteries and Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing (3M). In 1962 Jim married Gretchen Kreis and they adopted their son Mike in 1968 and daughter Julie in 1969.
Jim was a gentleman who highly respected all people. He was a devoted family man who deeply cared about his extended family. Jim was a creative and inventive person who spent his life solving problems. He was also an avid painter most of his life and created beautiful works of art. He had an engaging smile and a fun energetic spirit. He was truly a magnet of positive energy for those around him.
Jim is survived by his son Mike Weber, his daughter Julie Nass (Aaron) and their children Tyler and Brody, his sister Virginia Shipp and her children Jim Shipp, Barbara Shipp, and Mary DeMuniz (Paul), and his brother Wayne Weber (Ronnie) and their children Dave Weber (Deb), Patti Brabender (Dan), Tom Weber (Lori), Nancy Brown (Tim), and Robert Weber, and many grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 3720 SE 79th Avenue, Portland, OR 97206 on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 4:30 pm. A private family gathering will be held off-site after the service.
