James W. Schlosser

James W. Schlosser, age 90 of Arkansaw, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with his family by his side.
Jim was born on July 22, 1924 at home in rural Eau Galle. He was the son of Frank and Henrietta (Webb) Schlosser. Jim grew up on the home farm and attended school in Eau Galle. After school, Jim entered into U.S. Army in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1947. After the service, Jim worked at the Eau Galle Feed Mill along with farming on the home farm. He also worked at the Eau Galle Cheese Factory for 21 years before hog farming full time. On December 28, 1948 Jim married Marvel Leehe at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle, to this union, seven children were born. Marvel passed away in 1977. Jim married Bernice (Biesterveld) Barka on September 2, 1978, Bernice had nine children. Bernice passed away in 2005. Jim loved to entertain people. He entertained the residents at all of the nursing homes in a 40 mile radius. He loved playing the harmonica, he always carried one with him. He had a panda bear that he entertained with too. Jim was a Boy Scout leader for the Eau Galle Troop for several years and he helped out Santa for 50 years. He was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church, St. Henry’s Polka Choir, a member of the Catholic Knights Insurance, Knights of Columbus and the Eau Galle Sportsmen Club.
Jim is survived by his children; Charles of Plum City, Beth (Donald) Peterson of Plum City, Roger (Roselle) of Mondovi, Donavon (Karen) of Arkansaw, Marcia (Steve) Borton of Menomonie and Karen Sue (Bob) Carlson of Lawrence, KS, nine stepchildren, one brother; Bernard (Beatrice) of Texas, 16 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wives; Marvel and Bernice, son; Jerry, grandson; David, four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral Services were held at11:00 AM, Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. Rev. Jerry Hoeser officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Durand American Legion Post #181 of Durand.
