LENA M. JANSEN

Lena Margaret Jansen died August 27, 2016 at Plum City Care Center in Plum City, Wisconsin. She was born March 31, 1919 in Waterville Township, Pepin County, Wisconsin; daughter of Charles Theodore and Minnie (Lampman) King. She attended the Ella School. After school she worked as a hired girl cleaning and helping others. On December 20, 1937 she married Floyd Charles Smith in Ella, Wisconsin. They lived in the Durand area until 1947 when they moved to Hibbing, Minnesota. Floyd died May 17, 1964. On May 31, 1969 Lena married George Edwin Jansen in Watertown, South Dakota. Together they lived in Hibbing where she worked at an ammunition box factory and then at Ace Hardware store for thirty-seven years. George died December 30, 1996. In May of 1997 Lena moved to Durand, Wisconsin. Lena enjoyed watching television and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her grandson, Larry David (Lori) Deutsch of Stoughton, WI; granddaughter, Terryl Katherine Stewart of Kailua, HI; great-grandchildren, Alexa and Jake Deutsch, Erica and Maren Gryttenholm, Connor, Katie and Joey Stewart; special niece, Darlene LaBrec of Menomonie, WI; step-children, Donna (Richard) Bye of Otsego, MN, Ruth (John) Draskovich of Maple Grove, MN, Joann (Michael) Kinholt of Havre, MT, Ricky Jansen of Hibbing, MN; 8 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great grand children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Minnie (Lampman) King; husbands, Floyd Smith and George Jansen; daughters, Myrna Deutsch and Judy Smith; sisters, Myrtle Claflin, Lila Weber and Edith Cataract.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday, September 2, 2016 at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI with Deacon Jim Weingart officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 am Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 3, 2016 in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing, Minnesota.
