Tom Latané, of Pepin, earned a red ribbon in knife-making in the annual National Exhibition of Folk Art in the Norwegian Tradition at Vesterheim, the national Norwegian-American museum and heritage center in Decorah, Iowa. Latané received a couple of sample knives from an acquaintance, and used them to create this barrel knife with a gnarly white oak handle.

Local artist wins national award for knifemaking skills

A local artist once again received national recognition for one of his creations.
