Marian M. (Weber) Weinzirl

OBIT

Marian M. (Weber) Weinzirl 81 of Eau Galle died Friday, March 6, 2015 peacefully at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home surrounded by family.
Marian was born January 19, 1934, daughter of Charles H. and Emma W. (Wolf) Weber. She was born and raised on the Weber family farm near the town of Weston, Dunn County. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Grade School and Menomonie High School. In 1950, she met John L. Weinzirl, the love of her life. They were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie after a year engagement, as her Mom wanted to make sure she could “bake a pie”. They were blessed with four children and celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2003. Marian said it was one of the best days of her life. She resided and raised her family with John on the Weinzirl family farm near Eau Galle and they were much honored to be awarded the Dunn County Conservation Award as well as being named a Sesquicentennial Family Farm in 2007. Later they moved to the Lake in Eau Galle where she enjoyed watching the eagles, the swans, taking friends out on pontoon rides around the lake and being the center of fun family get-togethers. She loved her family dearly and had a special place in her heart for all of her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, and attended all of their games and events. She was an avid Durand Panther, Green Bay Packer, and Wisconsin Badger Fan. She has been known to have stood in line for those Panther Basketball tickets at 5 a.m.
Marian served as President of the Durand Deanery and was active in the Dunn County Right to Life organization and was instrumental in starting the Pepin County Right to Life. She was also a very active St. Henry’s Catholic Church member and enjoyed singing in the choir as well as the traveling Polka Choir. She helped at the Eau Galle Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels. She served a year as General Leader of the Missouri Valley 4-H Club and was a 4-H Foods and Nutrition Leader for several years. She also helped with the 4-H Music and Drama competitions.
Marian really loved living on the lake and watching the birds, but especially keeping the humming birds coming back to her feeder for more of the honey and sugary mixture she made for them. She would patiently wait with her camera and get some amazing pictures. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, picking wildflowers, needlepoint, sewing, quilting, photography, antiques, ceramics, crafts and painting. She loved her Weber Valley Homemakers Club and her neighborhood card party group. She and John enjoyed their travels to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and most of the other 50 states.
Marian is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (David) McMahon of Durand, Celeste Weinzirl of Eau Claire; two sons, Steven (Yvonne) of Eau Galle, Jeffrey of Menomonie; two brothers Carl Weber of Rantoul, IL and Joe Weber of Menomonie; nine grandchildren, Carrie, Ted, Jesse, Sara, Megan, Missy, Mike, Joe and Rejis; sixteen great-grandchildren, Helen, Harrison, Julian, Marian, Jonathan, Emma, Ethan, Josie, Eddie, Elsie, Austin, Allison, Jake, Owen, Grace and Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John of 55 years, one daughter; Mary, one grandson; Bill McMahon, two brothers; Bernard and Wilfred Weber.
A special thank you to the staff at the Oak View Care Center-Durand (4 years), and especially a heartfelt thank you to the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home Staff for the amazing care they showed Marian during her 6 year stay. Thank you to Dr. Nelson, what a kind heart you have for your patients.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle with Rev. Jerry Hoeser officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
