Mary Elaine Dusek

Mary Elaine Dusek, age 76 of Pepin WI and formerly of River Falls, died on Monday, December 4, 2017. Elaine was born September 10, 1941 in Helena MT to parents Edgar Louis and Katherine (Bowers) Smith. She attended school in Helena, and graduated from Cathedral High School with the Class of 1959. Elaine attended college at Carol College in Helena. While working for Western Life Insurance Company, her travels brought her to the Twin Cities area, where she would meet Marvin Dusek. The two were united in marriage on December 27, 1961 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls. Their union in marriage would be blessed with over 55 years of love and devotion, five children, and sixteen grandchildren.
Elaine had a special place in her heart for Montana, and shared with all her grandchildren her wish for them to visit there. She cared for her family as a homemaker, helping around the farm and doing chores. Elaine was also involved with the Pierce County 4-H Horse Riding Program. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, traveling, and trips to the casino. Above all, Elaine loved her family. Whether hosting family events or going for Sunday car rides with Marvin, she cherished her time spent with each of them.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 55 years, Marvin; her children, Ann (Ted) Nolen of Hudson WI, Allen (Nita) Dusek of River Falls, Lisa (Jay) Huppert of River Falls, Jean (Lee) VanderMarliere of Beldenville, and Mark (Susan) Dusek of Pepin; grandchildren, Daniel, Jordan, Evan, Amanda, Nicholas, Mikaela, Natasha (Jon) Bradt, Brandon, Derek, Jericka, Andre, Morgan, Tanner, Logan and Gabriella; sister, Susan (Arlyn) Benoy; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her grandson, Hunter; her parents; and brothers Jack Smith, and David Smith.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Elaine Dusek will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, 211 E Division Street in River Falls, WI, with Rev Fr. Jerry Harris officiating. Visitation will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, and also from 6:00-9:00pm on Friday evening, at the church. Memorials may be given to the discretion of the family. Services are in the care of the O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home of River Falls, WI. 715-425-5644
