MaryAnn (Kinney) Pattison

MaryAnn (Kinney) Pattison, age 92 of Mondovi, formerly of the Town of Canton, Buffalo County, died Monday, November 28, 2016 with her family by her side at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
MaryAnn was born on June 7, 1924 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She was the daughter of Robert H. and Aimee (O’Keefe) Kinney. MaryAnn grew up in Hudson, attended the Midway Country School and graduated from Hudson High School. After high school, MaryAnn graduated from St. Benedict College in St. Joseph, MN. She then took a job in Alma as the very first Buffalo County Home Agent. MaryAnn married James Pattison on June 15, 1948 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. After marriage, they farmed and raised their family on the Pattison family farm in the Town of Canton. MaryAnn valued family, genealogy and education. She was civically active, well-traveled and a powerfully strong farm woman who was a positive role model for her family, church and her community. MaryAnn’s legacy will continue with her decision to donate her body to medical research.
MaryAnn is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dorothy (Dan and Rebecca) Baader of Nelson; her children, Fran (Karen Hellend), Rob (Kathy Bowen) and Ed (Beth Bloz), all of Durand, Jim (Martha Buche) of Westby, Kathy (Adrian) Roberg of Norwalk, Patti (Mark Slaughter) Pattison of Urbana, IL and Aimee (Dan) Fien of Rochester, NY; - her grandchildren, Dylan (Ashley), Cody (Emma) and Diedre; Hannah; Tyler and Shelly (Ty); Kirstin and Ali; Erin and Ian; Kate and Liam; and Romi (Andrew), Renee and Abe; and great grandchildren, Corah and Eleanor. Included in her life were her foster daughter, Shirley LaBrec of Durand; a very special honorary son, Michael Austell of Chicago, IL and her pen pal of 38 years, Maisey Joseph from India. Additionally she is survived by her brother, Denny (Darlene) Kinney, sisters-in-law, Peggy Kinney, June Kinney, Leona Kinney, Marion Ruhde, Pat Hoffman, Gayle Pattison, Sr. Mary Pattison, RoseAnn Daugherty and Marge Hels. She is further survived by her Godchildren and over 60 nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, James, her son, Michael Pattison, her brothers, Bernard, Robert, Mike (Janice) and Richard Kinney, in-laws, Catherine (Hec) Mayheu, Mary (Joe) McKinnon, Larry Hoffman, Hank Pattison, Jim Daugherty and Ed Hels, nephews, John Kinney and Doug Hoffman and nieces, Theresa Kinney and Mary Mayheu.
Memorial Mass will be 10:30 AM Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima in Durand with Rev. Paul Bosco officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery in the Town of Canton, rural Buffalo County at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 PM at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to St. Benedict’s College in St. Joseph, MN or the Buffalo County Historical Society.
MaryAnn believed these occasions were a celebration of life, so please join the family in wearing colors of the rainbow at the visitation and memorial services.
