Mildred Marie Fredrickson

Mildred Marie Fredrickson (Enquist), 96, known to all as Milly, died on Thursday, November 19, 2020. Milly had a long and beautiful life. Life had its challenges, but her resilience and spirit were a result of her relationship to Jesus Christ, her grit, wit and a boundless heart of compassion. While recovering from hip surgery, Milly contracted COVID-19 and her body finally gave out. She found peace in the arms of her Savior at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City, Wisconsin.
Milly was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to David and Emma Enquist and had one brother, John. Milly attended the Evangelical Free Church Bible College in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating, she was led to missionary work in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky where she met her husband, Rev. Harold Fredrickson. Their 37-year career of ministry in seven churches across South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin touched countless lives. They “retired” in 1986 and worked for Pepin County Human Services. In January 2016, they moved to the Plum City Care Center, Plum City, Wisconsin.
Milly was a child of God, saved by grace and God’s gift, Jesus. Her faith and her marriage to Harold, inspired her life of service. Within her role of pastor’s wife, she was pianist, organist, accordionist, singer, choir director, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and director, Bible camp counselor and bread baker, youth group leader, speaker and teacher at Women’s Missionary Society, visited the sick and elderly, and provided warm hospitality at her kitchen table.
But of all Milly’s earthly blessings, she considered her family her greatest gift. She often told the story of a visiting evangelist who told Milly, “You’re so rich.” Milly thought it was a very strange comment, since they were a family of seven living on a small town’s preacher salary, until he clarified and said, “These children.” Milly agreed and so do her children. “Her children arise up and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:38. She created a home filled with love and care. Her skills in the kitchen were legendary, everything homemade and tasting like love itself.
Milly is preceded by death by her parents, David and Emma, her brother John, her son Timothy and her husband Harold. She is survived by her children, Steven, Rebecca, David and Daniel, grandchildren, Joshua, Kippen, Jonathan and LaKendra, great grandchildren, Gabriel, Wyatt and Eloise, extended family and friends.
The memorial service will be postponed until it is safe to travel and gather. Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI is assisting the family. To express on-line condolences, visit obituaries at www.goodrichfh.com
