Panther golf competes at sectionals

    The Panther golf team competed at the WIAA sectional golf tournament at River Run Golf Course June 1, and placed ninth out of 12 teams.
    The Panthers finished with a score of 376. Mondovi placed first with a 338, followed by Cochrane-Fountain City at 340. Mondovi and CFC advanced to the state tournament.
    Argyle/Pecatonica’s Mitchell Steiner was hte medalist for the day at two over par, 74. Lancaster’s Josh Hentrich finished with a 76, followed by Abundand Life’s Andrew Maier at 79. The three top finishers advanced to State.    
    Ben Weber led the Panthers with an 83. He was followed by TJ Tulip at 91, Carter Ward 96, Drew Bryan 106, and Kyle Abramson 115.
    “This was a great experience for us to get back to sectionals as a team,” said head coach Paul Churness. “this will help us immensely as we look ahead to next year and beyond.”
    The Dunn-St. Croix Conference has been impressive in the tournaments thus far, said Churness. Both Spring Valley and Mondovi won their respective sectionals, and will represent the conference at the State tournament.
