Susanne “Sue” M. Bauer

Susanne “Sue” M. Bauer, age 71 of Durand, died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, St. Mary’s in Rochester, MN with her family by her side.
Sue was born on April 13, 1954 in Mondovi. She was the daughter of Wilbert A. “Bill” and Margaret “Maggie” (Schneider) Weiss. Sue moved with her family to Eau Claire for several years before moving to the Durand area. Sue graduated from St. Mary’s grade school in 1968 and graduated from Durand High School in 1972. After high school, Sue worked for Menards in the corporate office. Sue married Jerry M. Bauer on December 14, 1974, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand. After marriage, Sue worked for a florist shop in Menomonie. She then raised her family and became an important part of the Bauer Built family. She also became a prominent figure in the tire industry and in our community through her kindness and grace.
Sue was a very competitive person and enjoyed bowling, playing pool, golfing, fishing and playing cards. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school and other events.
Sue is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry; children, Tad (Jodi Lechner) of Durand and Mandi (Chad Smith) of Eau Galle; granddaughters Breleigh, Bently and Brinly Bauer, Zoie and Maya Smith; brother, Rod (Pam) Weiss of Dousman, sister-in-law, Jodi Weiss of Hiawatha, IA; family friend, Zita Stewart of Durand; sister’s and brother’s-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roger.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00AM Friday, May 16, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand with Rev. Emmanuel Asamoah-Bekoe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00PM-7:00PM Thursday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
