Eagles dance team win awards at the Dairyland Conference Competition

The Pepin/Alma Eagles Dance team competed in the Dairyland Conference Competition held at Barron High School January, 24th. The team performed well placing 1st in the conference and 3rd overall. Durand dance team brings home awards

The Durand varsity dance team, coached by Olivia Hollister of Durand, recently competed at two competitions: Conference in Barron, where they were named conference champs for jazz and hip hop, and at the Freedom Invitational, where they received the Team Sportsmanship award. Our solos and ensembles that received medals included: Dianne Page, solo, Desiree Stafford, solo, and Marissa Bauer and Danielle Eraquam, duet. The team will be competing at Western Regionals in New Richmond on January 31st.

Plumber delights public with ice sculptures for over 15 years

Roger Nelson, owner of Nelson Plumbing in Ellsworth, has been creating ice sculptures from an artesian well on his property on County Road A in the Rush River valley for over 15 years. Each winter he sets up a system of pipes and hoses to allow unique ice sculptures to form. The sculptures are lit up in the evening. This photo shows some of the formations after about a week of cold temperatures on January 9.
