Donald Schultz

Donald L. Schultz, 87, of Mondovi, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi, surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 6, 1928 ,in Canton Township, Buffalo County, to the late Raymond and Clara (Larson) Schultz.
At age 17, he entered the Military on Feb. 2, 1946, served with the Navy during the conflicts of Guam and end of World War II. He was a life member of the Mondovi American Legion Post 154.
He Married Pauline Brantner on Aug. 6, 1949, in Racine, at the St. Rose Catholic Church.
Donald belonged to the Conservation Club, American Legion and Knights of Columbus 3rd degree. He was a volunteer driver for 25 years for the Buffalo County Veterans; he drove many miles to Milwaukee, Madison, Minneapolis and Tomah for clinic and doctor appointments. He was very proud of driving the veterans most of all, and retired at the age of 80.
He was a wonderful husband, awesome father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved seeing his great-grandchildren. Donald was a hard worker at every job he worked at. He worked for JI Case in Racine for three years, then went to Drummonds Meat Plant (Armour) in Eau Claire for eight years. Don then went to work in Whitehall at the packing plant for 32 years and mastered the trade of a “Beef Boner.”
He also worked and owned his own bar for several years. He loved to go hunting with his boys, camping and fishing with his wife at Great River Harbor in Alma, and loved spending time with his daughters. Best memories of the family was going to the house boat on the Mississippi.
Donald is survived by his wife, Pauline, of Mondovi; nine children, Richard Schultz of Whitehall, Betty (Gary) Slaby of Arcadia, Debbie (Mark) Waters of Blair, Donna (Ken) Stark of Winona, Minn., Tom (Mary) Schultz of Independence, Lewis (Lori) Schultz of Mondovi, Mary (Ed) Klebig of Eau Claire, Paula (Tom) Stuve of Whitehall, Steven (Missy) Schultz of Whitehall; 29 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers, LaMoine (Ilene) Schultz, Barry (Pam) Schultz, Alan (Sandy) Schultz; sister, Bonnie Reick; sister-in-law, Lou (Brantner) Schultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his five-year-old son, Timothy M. Schultz; brother, Robert Schultz; brother-in-law, Dave Reick.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 1, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Mondovi. Burial followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Mondovi.
