Local village board election filings complete
by Beth Kraft
Two local communities now know the names of the candidates set to appear on the upcoming spring election ballot.
Caucuses were recently held for the Eleva and Strum village boards, yielding four candidates for each who will seek two-year terms on the respective boards.
On the Eleva Village Board, three incumbents and one newcomer have filed papers for a total of four open seats. The incumbents are Brad Mai, president, and trustees Rodger Forsythe and Brett Semingson. Bernard Mai will seek the fourth open seat.
The fourth incumbent, Rick Miland, did not file paperwork by the deadline to indicate his intentions of continuing to serve on the Board.
For the Strum Village Board, all four incumbents up for re-election will run unopposed. The candidates are Dean Boehne, president, and village trustees Doug Gerritts, Tom Gilbertson, and Chuck Thompson.
