John Robert Amman

John (Jack) Robert Amman passed away March 31st, 2021 peacefully in his sleep at home in Jacksonville, Florida
Born December 17th, 1936 in Plainview, Minnesota. He was an only child to parents Harold Lawrence Amman and Marion Bertina (Hall) Amman. He is survived by his wife Jeanne Borcheck (Dairy) Amman whom he married in 2009. He enjoyed many happy years traveling with Jeanne and they shared many road trips and Cruise ship packages.
John is predeceased by his first wife Bernice Marie (Heinlein) Amman. They were married in 1956 and she passed away in 2008. He is survived by his daughter Diane Pickard and her husband Robert Pickard. His two sons John Robert Amman II passed 6/13/2000 and Joseph Leo Amman passed 3/21/1961.
John has four grandchildren, Micah (Sonia) Amman, Bethany (Kenneth) Allen, Amber (Appalonia) Nelson, and Daniel (Victoria) Pickard. He has three great grandchildren, Hannah and Natalia Amman and Kopelli Allen.
John joined the Navy after high school and transferred to the Air Force shortly thereafter. During his career he traveled to Virginia, Illinois, Alaska, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, Florida, Minnesota, England, Germany, and Holland. He retired from the military after 20 years of service and was often quick to advise anyone and everyone that the military is the best career anyone could have. He was very proud of his country and very patriotic.
John obtained his nursing degree shortly after retirement and spent the next thirty plus years in the nursing profession. His favorite stories came from his time working in the Emergency Room at University Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. The work was very hard, but even after a twelve-hour shift, he would say he felt energized.
John and Jeanne spent time between St. Augustine Beach, FL and Altamonte Springs, FL during their marriage and enjoyed playing cards, dominos, and dice games.
A memorial service with Deacon John DeStazio officiating will be held on September 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview. Burial will follow at St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery in Plainview.
