Adelle Carol Mae (Anderson) Peters

Adelle Carol Mae (Anderson) Peters, age 93, of Pepin, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 25, 1931, in rural Stockholm, Wisconsin, Adelle was the youngest daughter of Edgar and Blanche (Nichols) Anderson. With her sisters Mabel and Mildred already adults when she arrived, Adelle grew up in a unique family dynamic—sharing childhood with nieces and nephews who felt more like cousins.
She was baptized on July 7, 1935, and confirmed on March 25, 1945, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin. A member of Pepin High School’s Class of 1949, Adelle pursued her calling in nursing, earning her degree from Bethesda Nursing School in St. Paul, Minnesota.
It was through her close friend Joy (Peters) Beaver that Adelle met her future husband, Glee Peters—Joy’s brother. They were married on August 7, 1953, at the Pepin United Methodist Church. Shortly after their wedding, Glee was drafted into the Army. Adelle joined him at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where she found work as a nurse until Glee was deployed overseas.
When Glee returned from serving in Korea, the couple made their home on the Peters family dairy farm outside Pepin, where Adelle had already been living with Glee’s parents, Victor and Myra (Wheeler) Peters. Together, Adelle and Glee built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. They raised three sons—Brian, Bryce, and Brent—who grew up helping on the farm and learning from their parents’ steadfast example.
In addition to running the farm and raising her family, Adelle worked as a registered nurse at Lake City Hospital and later at Pepin Manor Nursing Home, where she continued serving others into her 80s. Her compassion, generosity, and selflessness touched countless lives in the community.
Adelle was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a deeply proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Her 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy.
After losing Glee in her 50s, Adelle found companionship among her co-workers and enjoyed travel adventures with her niece, Joyce (Anderson) Olson.
Adelle was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Blanche Anderson; her sisters, Mabel Anderson and Mildred Peters; and her beloved husband, V. Glee Peters.
She is survived by her three sons: Brian (Lucy) Peters, Bryce (Roberta) Peters, and Brent (Robin) Peters; her grandchildren: Angela (Bradford) Shirley, Ian Peters, Aaron Peters, Samuel Peters, Eric (Emily) Peters, Sara (Brad) Stuve, Christopher Hetrick, Rachael Peters, Hailey (Darren) Kistner, Rebecca (Jeremiah) Fisher, and Claire (Joe) Boros; and her great-grandchildren: Adeline, Thomas, and Isabelle Shirley; Christian Hetrick; Gwendolyn and Olivia Peters; Maxwell Peters and Osiris Fisher; and Sophia Boros. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joy Beaver, and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family offers heartfelt thanks to Adelle’s in-home caregiver, Janell Raethke, whose assistance and friendship allowed Adelle to remain at home in her final years. Special thanks also to St. Croix Hospice, and to daughter-in-law Robin Peters, whose nursing expertise and loving presence—together with granddaughters Sara Stuve and Claire Boros—were invaluable in Adelle’s final days.
Adelle will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched—with kindness, devotion, and grace. We take comfort in knowing she is home now. “Because I live, you also will live.” —John 14:19
