Timothy John Heffernan
Timothy John Heffernan, of Durand, Wisconsin, passed away on April 17, 2026, after a long battle with cancer.
Tim was born on November 15, 1954, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Pat and Phyllis (Honadel) Heffernan.
Tim worked 40 years on the railroad, retiring in 2014. Living a life defined by quiet strength, Tim’s loves were family, golf, working in the garage or outside in the yard – in that order, as well as spending some time each year in Myrtle Beach after retiring.
Tim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barb (Knutson) Heffernan, son Jake (fiancée Ari), aunt Darlene (Bill) Masters, and many, many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Pat and Phyllis (Honadel) Heffernan, brother Tom (Ruth) Heffernan, in-laws Leonard and Lorraine (Amundson) Knutson, aunt Betty (Stabenow) Heffernan, nephew Mark (Melissa) Heffernan, and sister-in-law Lori (Knutson) Stewart.
The family would like to thank Marshfield Clinic and Hospital system, Advent Health in Durand, and St. Croix Hospice for all of the care and support Tim received over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society supporting Tim’s and his family’s hope for a cure.
Tim left a lasting impression on those who knew him, and his memory will be carried forward with love.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima with Father Emmanuel Asamoah-Bekoe officiating. Burial will be private at a later date.
