Bruce Robert Mickow

Bruce Robert Mickow, 61, of Eyota, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. He was born on February 1, 1963, in Rochester to Kenneth and Carol (Peterson) Mickow. He attended Elgin-Millville Schools and graduated in 1982. On October 22, 1999, he married the love of his life, Laura Paine in Rochester.
Bruce worked as a machine operator for the former Schmidt Printing company in Byron for 35 years. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music and watching sports on TV, often simultaneously. He especially enjoyed country music and his favorite band “KISS.” Bruce was an avid sports fan, from local to professional, he was always watching sports of any kind. While he had a love for all Minnesota sports teams, his favorite was by far the Twins. Bruce was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Eyota where he served on the church council. He collected baseball cards over many years and continued collecting more every chance he got. He ended up having a pretty impressive collection that he was quite proud of.
For Bruce life was always about his family. Bruce loved being a father and grandfather and he enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews grow up and always spoiled everyone with the best Christmas presents. The highlight of Bruce’s life was the people that he surrounded himself with. He was always trying to keep the situation light hearted and loved teasing those that he was closest with. If you asked Bruce what he was most proud of in his life he wouldn’t miss a beat in telling you that it was his family. He loved with everything he had and never took his time for granted.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Mickow of Eyota; two daughters, Brenna (John)French of Sibley, IA, LeeAnn (Bryce) Strain of Eyota; and a son, Wyatt Mickow of Eyota; his grandchildren, Kendall and Brock Strain and Elizabeth French; his mother, Carol Schroeder of Elgin; two sisters, Barb (Dennis) Benjamin of Owatonna, and Brenda (Roger) Loos of Millville; a brother, Blaine (Julie) Mickow of Plainview; and his mother-in-law, Betty Reynolds of Eyota.
