Council talks Money

Pay scales, wages, and paid-time-off were several of the topics discussed at the Plainview City Council’s two-hour special meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 27. While no official action was taken on any topics at the meeting, there was much discussion at city hall.
City Administrator Clarissa Hadler gave council members an update on a wage scale implementation for city employees based off of recommendations from Interim City Administrator John Chattin and the city’s consultant.
Hadler, who said she spoke with officials from other cities on the topic, suggested that when implementing a new pay scale, employees should be placed on the scale at the step that is closest to, but not less than the employee’s current wage. However, Hadler said, at no point should an employee who has been employed for more than two years be placed lower than two steps and at no point should an employee be placed on a step that is more than two steps below their current step.
