Darold Dean Heddlesten

Darold Dean Heddlesten, age 86, of Plainview, Minnesota, passed away on April 26, 2026, at Green Prairie Assisted Living in Plainview.
Darold was born on August 10, 1939, in Rensselaer, Indiana, to William and Evelyn (Selke) Heddlesten. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1957. Shortly after, he worked at a gas station in Kellogg, Minnesota.
On January 4, 1958, Darold married Yvonne “Bonnie” Riester in Wabasha, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Plainview, where they built a life together and welcomed two children.
Darold began his career at IBM in 1958, where he worked until his retirement in 1992. Outside of work, he was known for his many talents and interests. He enjoyed bicycle repair, garage sales, fixing electronics, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, yardwork, and recording music. Darold was a skilled carpenter and took pride in working with his hands and creating things that lasted. He especially cherished Sunday drives with Bonnie.
He is survived by his children, Dorla (Tom) Dubbels of Eyota, MN and Derrick (Patty) Heddlesten of Stewartville, MN; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Evie Kitzman; and his brother, David (Lin) Heddlesten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Evelyn; his beloved wife, Bonnie, who passed away on October 13, 2022; and his brother, Ben Heddlesten.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 45 W. Broadway, Plainview, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.
