E-S boys suffer pair of losses

The Eleva-Strum boys basketball team had a non-conference game against Mondovi on Tuesday, Jan. 26, and played at Augusta on Thursday, Jan. 28. Both games unfortunately saw the Cardinals come out on the losing end by double-digits.

The Cardinals tried their best to stay close throughout the game vs. Mondovi, but the Buffaloes turned a five-point halftime lead into a 62-54 final score.

The top scorers for Eleva-Strum were Cade Kunferman with 15 points, Mathew Higley and Drew Severson with 11, and Bennett Moen with 10.

The boys also played at Augusta on Thursday, Jan. 28. E-S again trailed by a few points at halftime, 32-27, and couldn’t find a way to turn the tables in the second half resulting in the 67-54 loss for the Cards.

Leading the way for E-S on offense was Severson with 14 points, Higley with 13 and Moen with nine.

The Cardinals played at home against Melrose-Mindoro on Tuesday, Feb. 2, and will travel to Blair-Taylor on Friday, Feb. 5, followed by a game at Gilmanton on Monday, Feb. 8.
