Janet Carol Moore

Janet Carol Moore, 88, of St. Charles and formerly of Elgin, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Whitewater Health Services in St. Charles. She was born September 5, 1935, in Rochester to Carlton and Arnina (Polikowsky) Tradup. She attended Elgin’s schools and graduated in 1953 from Elgin High School. On June 26, 1954, she married Wesley Moore at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin.
Over the years Janet was employed by Elgin Cheese Shop, Lakeside Foods in Plainview, was a Plainview News photographer, and did babysitting for many different families. Janet was always involved in her children’s activities at school and served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Janet enjoyed sewing and quilting, gardening, going hunting and fishing, going to sporting events, and playing cards. You could find her often spending time working on word search and jig-saw puzzles. Janet served as an election judge and was on the Elgin Ambulance Service for 20+ years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin and active in the Ladies Aide.
Janet is survived by her children, Kristine “Kris” (Gene) Schmit and Debra (David) Johnson both of Elgin, Patricia (Bob) Barrone of Dover, Nancy (Brett) Moore-Corson of Wykoff, Barbara (Sonny) Schmit of Babbitt, Daniel (Pamela) Moore of Hot Springs Village, AR, and Scott (Kelly Mae) Moore of Winona; 20 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Ronald (Nada)Moore of Hager City, WI, sister-in-law, Evelyn Tradup of Rochester, and brother-in-law, Jack Beaman of Bullhead City, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, JoAnn Beaman, two brothers, Paul Tradup and Charles Tradup, a granddaughter, Amanda Johnson, and a grandson, Anthony Barrone.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin with Pastor Josh Moldenhauer officiating. The burial will follow the service at the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
